Reservation & Cancellation Policy

In this statement by agreeing with our policies and making payment on behalf of yourself and others, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our terms and policies. You also acknowledge and accept the responsibility that anybody you are paying on behalf of has also read and understands our policies. Each payment method we utilize references our policies. Therefore, by processing the payment, you agree that you have thoroughly read, understand, and agree with the policies, terms, and conditions written on this page.

All policies are subject to change without notice. We are on your side at all times, but there are times when the policies of our service providers, unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control, or the laws or taxes of the Costa Rican government supersede our policies. For clarity; in the event of a tax increase between the time you reserve and the time of the actual service, you will be responsible for paying the difference.

RESERVATION, MODIFICATION, CANCELLATION, AND INDEMNITY TERMS

• All services booked by our Customers are paid for in advance. We are happy to accommodate any service modifications made up to 24 hours from the time of the Service; the only fees, penalties, and time restrictions Faro Travel will impose on the customer are those which are imposed by the applicable service providers and not under our control.

• Modifications 24-48hrs from the time of service must be directed to our operations office at +506 2645-6564 or info@farotravel.com

• No services can be considered confirmed or modified until we verify availability and the Customer makes new payment arrangements, if there is a price increase, and Faro Travel provides the Customer with confirmations.

• All cancellation requests must be received by email to info@farotravel.com and penalties may apply.

• Cancellation penalties are handled on a case-by-case basis as not all providers have the flexibility to offer this in every case.

• No refunds for no-shows or unused portions of services or packages. This will be penalized with 100% of the value of the services; without the option of a refund or the application of payment for other services.

• No refunds due to airline delays, strikes, political unrest, or acts of God including hurricanes, fire, flood, lockout, the order of government authorities, bad weather, or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

• No refunds for payments processed via bank transfer. This will be penalized with 100% of the value of the services; without the option of the application of payment for other services.

• For bank transfer payments, in order to guarantee the reservation, it is necessary to cancel 100% of the total amount of the reservation in one transaction and full payment must be made 96 hours prior to the service date. If on the date of the service the payment does not show on our bank statement, the reservation will be automatically canceled.

• All refunds are subject to a 10% administrative and processing fee.

• Faro Travel hereby reserves the right to modify the schedules, departure or arrival points, or cancel any service for reasons beyond our control.

• Rates are subject to change without previous notice due to increases from our suppliers and/or changes in government taxes.

• Reservations must specify the lead traveler's name, the number of participants (adults and children), the time and date of the service, the starting point, and the destination. Customers without reservations will not be allowed to join the service even if there is space available.

• Faro Travel hereby reserves the right to change/substitute alternate service providers/operators, change routes and, if necessary, may alter or omit stopping places shown on the description/confirmation, due to no availability or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

ACCOMMODATIONS

• In order to guarantee the reservation, it is necessary to cancel at least 50% of the total amount of the reservation. Full payment must be made 3 weeks before the arrival.

• If cancellation is requested less than 30 days prior to arrival, will be charged 100% of the total amount. If 31 to 35 days prior to arrival, will be charged 50% of the total amount paid plus any hotel penalties. If 36 to 40 days prior to arrival, only hotel penalties will be charged.

• Reservations from December 1st to January 31st and Easter Week are not refundable.

• Faro Travel hereby reserves the right to change/substitute alternate service providers/operators shown on the description/confirmation, change routes and, if necessary, may alter or omit stopping places, without notice. This is due to no availability or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

TRANSPORTATION

• In order to guarantee the reservation, it is necessary to cancel 50% of the total amount of the reservation. Full payment must be made 5 days prior to arrival.

• Transportation services that must be operated between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. have an extra charge of $30.00 on top of the net rate.

• Please provide us with the exact name of the pick-up and drop-off locations. Airport, hotel, private home, or identifiable landmark in Costa Rica.

• For airport pick-ups, you must indicate the airline, flight number, and arrival time.

• Faro Travel will not transport people in an alcoholic or drug state.

• If cancellation is requested 7 or fewer days prior to arrival, will be charged 100% of the total amount. If 14 or fewer days prior to arrival, will be charged 50% of the total amount. If 15 or more days prior to arrival, the full amount paid will be refunded.

• Rates are subject to change without notice in case the customer requests alternate route changes or stops on the way.

• If you require a car seat or booster seat, please indicate the age of the children on the reservation to assign the appropriate device to age. There will be an extra charge per device.

• Faro Travel will endeavor to carry you and your baggage with reasonable dispatch, but times shown in the itinerary or elsewhere are not guaranteed and form no part of any contract as these times can and often do vary significantly for a variety of reasons, but mostly due to the road conditions and unpredictability of other vehicles driving on them such as large trucks which can cause and often do cause traffic on a regular basis.

• Faro Travel hereby reserves the right to change/substitute alternate service providers/operators shown on the description/confirmation, change routes and, if necessary, may alter or omit stopping places, without notice. This is due to no availability or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

• English-speaking guides/drivers are not guaranteed for transports unless specifically written otherwise. An English-speaking driver or accompanying guide can usually be added for an additional charge upon request.

• Transport to and from Tambor, Montezuma, Mal País, and Santa Teresa that go via Puntarenas, take the ferry across the Nicoya Gulf. It is possible that the first vehicle drops you off at the ferry dock and another vehicle will be waiting for you on the other side.

• All shared shuttles include a 10-minute rest stop where passengers can stretch, use the facilities, and get a snack. This stop may be a connection stop or may involve a change of vehicle depending on the route.

• The pick-up time for shared shuttles is estimated and it may vary without notice depending on road traffic, other pick-ups, or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

• Shared shuttles are not allowed by law to wait or park at the airport, therefore airport pickups will be at the established times and places located outside the airport terminal, either Malinche Restaurant in Juan Santamaría International Airport or El Patio Britt Shop in Guanacaste (LIR) Airport, the exact pick-up place will be confirmed on your itinerary once the reservation is confirmed.

• The driver will wait a maximum of 10 minutes at the pick-up location for a passenger traveling on shared shuttles. If the passenger doesn't show up 10 minutes passed the pick-up time they will be considered a No-Show and 100% of the service will be charged.

• For shared shuttles all children must be accompanied by two adults, in case the child travels only with one adult, the child will pay the normal adult rate.

• Shared shuttles are based on scheduled departures and established routes. We recommend you take the private transportation service if you would like to choose at your best convenience the schedule and route you will be traveling.

• Shared shuttles provide door-to-door service in most cases, picking passengers up at hotels at the starting destination and dropping them off at hotels at the final destination. However, sometimes a particular hotel is located out of route, and the shuttle will not provide this door-to-door service. In these cases, a taxi can take you and your group to the shuttle pick-up/drop-off location.
 
• For shared and private transport, each passenger is allowed one carry-on (handbag) and one piece of luggage (suitcase). An additional payment is required for each extra luggage, or large item, and this information must be indicated at the time of making the reservation.

• Shared shuttles are operated with a minimum of 2 passengers. You can still check for availability since it is possible that we have more passengers on that same date and thus confirm your reservation. If only 1 passenger, you can make the reservation and it will be on the waiting list. With waiting list passengers we will publish the date and as a team, we will look for more passengers.

• Private transport can be scheduled anytime you wish and from any airport, hotel, private home, or identifiable landmark in Costa Rica.

• Private transport rates are based on services from 1 to 6 passengers. There will be an additional charge per extra person. If more than 10 passengers are traveling, please contact us to assign the corresponding vehicle for your group and also provide the correct rate for the service.

• Private transports include a courtesy waiting hour at the place assigned as the departure point, or to make a stop on the route, giving your group opportunities to pose for photographs, take bathroom breaks, or enjoy a meal. After this time Faro Travel will charge $30.00 per extra hour of waiting.

• If after 3 hours of waiting at the place assigned as the departure point, we have not received any update or report from the client or the agency, the client will be reported as No Show, and 100% of the cost of the service plus the extra waiting hours will be penalized.

• Additionally, with private transport we can customize a scenic adventure for your group to attractions between the travel destinations, such as a short hike in a national park, a visit to a coffee plantation, shopping in a traditional Costa Rican town, or admiring a waterfall. If you are interested in making such an excursion, we would be happy to give you options and pricing information based on your travel route.

• For unscheduled stops that exceed 1 hour, please keep your local ambassador/driver happy with a $10 payment for each additional hour.

• In cash payments can be made on the day of the transport. However, payment has to be made before the service is provided.

BAGGAGE

• Baggage is carried under passenger's risk. We assume no liability for fragile, valuable, or perishable articles.

• We assume no liability for baggage loss or damage.

• We assume no liability for any personal belongings left in our vehicles.

• In shared shuttles, each passenger is allowed one carry-on (handbag) and one piece of luggage (suitcase). Additional payment is required for each extra luggage or large item.

TOURS AND ACTIVITIES

• In order to guarantee the reservation, it is necessary to cancel 50% of the total amount of the reservation. Full payment must be made 48 hours prior to arrival.

• If cancellation is requested 7 or fewer days prior to arrival, will be charged 100% of the total amount. If 14 or fewer days prior to arrival, will be charged 50% of the total amount. If 15 or more days prior to arrival, the full amount paid will be refunded.

• We can't control wildlife and therefore cannot guarantee that you will see it. We also cannot guarantee the weather, conditions of the sea, tour cancellations or modifications which are out of our control, or anything that is not directly provided by us.

• Faro Travel hereby reserves the right to change/substitute/alternate service providers/operators, or times shown on the description/confirmation, change routes, and, if necessary, may alter or omit stopping places, without notice. This is due to no availability or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control.

• If you need transportation please provide the pick-up location (hotel or identifiable landmark) so we can give you an approximate pick-up time. Otherwise, we can’t provide transportation since we don't know where to find you. On the other hand, if you have your own transportation please let us know so we can provide you with the location that you need to drive to and the time that you need to be there to start the great expedition.

• It is possible that your pick-up location might be out of route and there would be an extra pick-up/drop-off fee, or it might not be offered from your specific location. This is why it is so important to provide a pickup location at least 24 hours before the tour starts. If this information is not provided at the time of booking or at least 24 hours before the tour starts, there is a risk of a last-minute service cancellation due to availability or any circumstance beyond our control, Faro Travel will not be responsible for the loss of any service, and 100% of the service will be charged.

RENTAL CAR

• In order to guarantee the reservation, it is necessary to cancel 50% of the total amount of the reservation. Full payment must be made 4 weeks before the arrival.

• If cancellation is requested 10 days or less prior to arrival, or no show, no refund. If canceled within 14 days prior to the date of arrival, 50% of the total price will be retained, if 15 days or more prior to the date of arrival, no charge.

• Drivers must be 25 years or older. Unless otherwise specified in your travel plans, your rental car will have a manual transmission. Rental car companies usually require a refundable deposit in the amount of $750 - $1,500 on your credit card for a deductible. Please also note that most require a deposit for GPS units and/or cell phone rental with the car (when provided).

The customer has read and verified the details and dates of the Services and by continuing with payment agrees that everything is correct.

TRAVEL INSURANCE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

• We strongly recommend buying "Cancel for Any Reason" trip insurance to protect you and your investment. You wouldn't drive your car without insurance, so why would you travel without insurance? We are not an insurance company and cannot be held liable for any situation not incurred directly by the services that we provide including missed or canceled hotels, tours or transportation, flight delays or cancellations, political unrest, acts of God including natural causes, rain, thunderstorms, tornado, hurricane, fire, theft, flood, landslide, flat tire, strikes, automotive problems, construction, pandemic, travel advisories, border closures, health problems, lockout, the order of government authorities, bad weather, or any reasonable circumstance beyond its control etc..

• We are also not responsible for situations that can occur based on clients not providing reasonable or adequate information such as incorrect flight information, health issues, age, dietary, height or weight restrictions and/or limitations, etc... This includes any situation that could be reasonably deemed as inadequate information provided by the client. We strongly recommend that you check with your physician to see if you are fit for the service or itinerary you choose as well as travel in Costa Rica in general.

• We are not responsible for any injuries (including death) while riding in any conveyance reserved/arranged by our company, or on any tour reserved/arranged by our company. You agree that there are inherent risks to travel and agree to hold us blameless for any loss experienced while traveling. Please contact a travel insurance provider to obtain appropriate coverage.

• By authorizing us to make your travel arrangements or by making a payment to us, you agree to be bound by the above-stated policies, terms, and conditions and acknowledge that you have shown these policies to all members of your travel party in which you represent by making payment for them. Please contact a travel insurance provider to obtain appropriate coverage.

• We are a vacation planning service and not a trip insurance company. It is your responsibility to obtain trip insurance.

GOVERNMENT TAXES

We take great pride in providing bottom-line pricing, but there are some situations that are out of our control such as government taxes. We are a law-abiding company and respect the local law, which means that we cannot be held responsible for changes in government taxes. The rate that you have been provided is based on current government tax codes. In the event of a tax increase between the time you reserve and the time of the actual service, you will be responsible for paying the difference. Remember, we are a travel service. We can't control government regulations and have no way of predicting them.

DISCLAIMER

• Faro Travel will not be held liable directly or indirectly for any loss or damage from activities under the control of other agents or service providers including but not limited to claims for death, personal injury delays, or additional expenses that may arise when using a service arranged through us.

• Faro Travel will not be held responsible for schedule changes in the ferry, water taxi, or any services provided by third parties, not for accidents and/or loss of baggage during the trip on these services.

• Passengers agree that any dispute about liability will be decided in a court of law in Costa Rica. In any case, Faro Travel’s liability for loss, damage, or delayed delivery of checked or transferred baggage is limited to the actual value of the baggage or $100.00, whichever is less. Even if the passenger declares a higher value, Faro Travel will not cover more than the sum of $100.00.

• When practicing in adventure activities, and/or visiting wilderness areas or other places where a tour enters or takes place, the tour participant attests and assumes the risks and dangers inherent to these areas and activities. Tour participant attests and verifie to be physically fit and in good health to undertake these services, tours, and activities.

• Liability for death or personal injuries to passengers is limited to contract conditions with suppliers and insurance coverage subscribed by the company, according to the laws of Costa Rica, in effect at the moment of the accident.

• Faro Travel is not responsible for or liable for failure to make connections to operate any shuttle according to schedule or for a change to the schedule of any shuttle service.

• Under no circumstances shall Faro Travel be liable for any special, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the foregoing.

INDEMNITY

• You acknowledge and agree to participate in each of the requested services and related activities at your own risk. The participant attests and verifies to be physically fit and in good health to undertake these services, tours, and activities.

• You are responsible for all that may occur during travel; you agree to indemnify and hold Faro Travel, its subsidiaries and affiliates officers, partners, directors, employees, owners, agents, successors, and assignees harmless from and against any loss damage liability cost or expense of any kind that you may incur in connecting with a third party claim as of your use of our advice or recommendation services.

• You acknowledge and agree that the Faro Travel indemnified parties have performed a responsible job in helping put together connections with third-party service providers that suit your stated preferences, but that on each occasion the last decision to select these services and third-party service providers is solely and exclusively the customer's decision.

CHANGES TO OUR TERMS OF SERVICE

We reserve the right to change this User Agreement from time to time without notice. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this User Agreement periodically to familiarize yourself with any modifications. Your continued use of this site after such modifications will constitute acknowledgment and agreement of the modified terms and conditions.

STATEMENT OF CUSTOMER

• I, "Customer", hereby authorize Faro Travel Costa Rica. To charge my Credit Card, PayPal account, or any other payment method I decide to use in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth below. I understand that any charges from this company will show on my billing statement.

• I, "Customer" have read the above agreement and its terms and conditions, and I accept them in their entirety.

• I agree to pay the total amount for the Requested Services. I agree to pay in accordance with the Reservation, Modification, and Cancellation Terms set forth above. I understand that in the event of a cancellation or service modification, I am responsible for all applicable fees and penalties charged by the individual service providers.
